From WooSox baseball with a fireworks show on Friday to a beloved butterfly festival on Saturday, live music spanning symphonic black metal to hip-hop, farmers markets on both ends of the weekend, and the last chance to catch a critically acclaimed exhibit at the Worcester Art Museum — this weekend has something for every kind of summer mood. Friday, August 7
WooSox vs. Lehigh Valley IronPigs (with Fireworks)
Start your weekend with America's favorite pastime at Polar Park. The Worcester Red Sox take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for the first game of a three-game homestand, and it is a UniBank Fireworks Friday — meaning the night ends with a spectacular fireworks show over the ballpark. It is a Southbridge Town Takeover night too, so expect a lively crowd. 19th Annual Barbara J. Walker Butterfly Festival (Family-Friendly)
One of Worcester's most beloved family traditions returns for its 19th year. The Barbara J. Walker Butterfly Festival at Broad Meadow Brook Conservation Center and Wildlife Sanctuary is a day of nature, learning, and hands-on fun. Join Mass Audubon naturalists for guided butterfly walks through the sanctuary's meadows, check out live caterpillars, participate in children's activities and garden tours, browse the native plant sale, and enter the costume contest (butterfly wings encouraged!). Admission is just $5–$6 per person and free for children 2 and under. This is one of those events that reminds you why Worcester County is such a special place to raise a family.

University Park Farmers Market
Saturday morning means the University Park Farmers Market, a vibrant gathering of local farmers and food makers in the Main South neighborhood. Running every Saturday through October 31, this market offers fresh produce, eggs, artisanal bread, honey, and more. WooSox vs. Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Afternoon Baseball)
The WooSox are back at Polar Park for a Saturday afternoon game against the IronPigs with a 4:05 PM start. Saturday's game features special promotions including Seven Hills Ability Day, a WooSox Youth Clinic, and a Scout Sleepover — making it a great day for families and young baseball fans. Grab a seat in the sun, cheer on Worcester's home team, and enjoy everything that makes a summer afternoon at the ballpark special.
Dimmu Borgir: Grand Serpent Rising Tour (The Palladium)
Saturday night at the Palladium belongs to Norwegian symphonic black metal legends Dimmu Borgir, who bring their Grand Serpent Rising Tour to Worcester with special guests Suffocation and Hulder. This is a massive show for metal fans — Dimmu Borgir's theatrical live performances, complete with elaborate stage production and orchestral elements, are not to be missed. The Palladium is one of the best places in New England to experience heavy music, and this lineup is stacked. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
ArtsWorcester — The Fourteenth Annual One: A Members' Exhibition
If you are near downtown Worcester on Saturday, stop by ArtsWorcester's main galleries to see "The Fourteenth Annual One: A Members' Exhibition" — the largest exhibition in ArtsWorcester's history, featuring 259 artworks from over 48 regional artists. Running through August 23, this is a wonderful showcase of the creative talent in Central Massachusetts. Admission is free, and the gallery is a short walk from both the Palladium and Polar Park.

Sunday, August 9
WooSox vs. Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Bobblehead Giveaway)
Close out the weekend series with a classic Sunday afternoon at the ballpark. The WooSox host the IronPigs at 1:05 PM, and the first fans through the gates receive a Ceddanne Rafaela Rawlings Gold Glove bobblehead — a must-have for collectors. It is also Boylston Town Takeover day, so the crowd will be buzzing with community pride. Sunday baseball at Polar Park is about as good as summer gets in Worcester — sunshine, hot dogs, and the crack of the bat.
Worcester Art Museum — Tour of the Galleries
Spend a quiet Sunday afternoon at the Worcester Art Museum. The museum is open 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the free weekly Tour of the Galleries at 1:00 PM led by knowledgeable docents. This is also your last chance to see Fever Dreams of a Cool-Breathed Earth by Christa Donner and Andrew S. Yang, a powerful multi-sensory exhibition about climate change, bodies, and urban ecology — it closes on August 16. The newly reimagined American Art Galleries and the "A Weather Eye" exhibition are also on view. General admission is $20 for adults, $16 for seniors and students, and free for members, kids under 17, and EBT/WIC cardholders.

Luh Tyler at the Palladium
Cap off your weekend with Florida rapper Luh Tyler at the Palladium on Sunday night. Known for his laid-back flow and viral hits, Luh Tyler brings a high-energy show that has been drawing crowds across the country. It is a completely different vibe from Saturday's metal show — proof that the Palladium delivers across genres. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
