Friday, September 11
Sterling Fair (Opens Friday, free admission)
About 20 minutes north of the city, the Sterling Fair kicks off its three-day run on Friday evening. Run entirely by volunteers with free admission (parking donation suggested), it is one of the last true community fairs of the season and a Worcester County classic. Pride Worcester Festival (Free, main stage, 200+ vendors)
Saturday afternoon belongs to the 2026 Pride Worcester Festival, Central Massachusetts' largest LGBTQ+ celebration and one of the most joyful days of the year downtown. Expect a main stage with music and drag performances, more than 200 vendors and community partners, food trucks, and thousands of people filling the City Common. It is free to attend and a genuine demonstration of the city's community spirit. Grab a friend, arrive early, and stay for the performances.

Clinton Olde Home Days
West of Worcester, the town of Clinton throws its annual Olde Home Days in Central Park, a two-day Sept tradition with a midway, live entertainment, craft and food vendors, games, and that classic small-town parade-and-picnic energy. It is family-friendly, mostly free to wander, and one of those events that makes you love life in a New England town. Saturday sees most of the activities, so plan a mid-morning arrival.
Harvest Craft Fair at Brookfield Orchards
South of Worcester, Brookfield Orchards hosts its annual Harvest Craft Fair all weekend, a celebration of local makers set among the orchard's bins of apples and barrels of cider. Start Saturday the community way at the University Park Farmers Market in the Main South neighborhood. The Regional Environmental Council's market runs 9–noon every Saturday through late October, with local growers selling produce, eggs, baked goods, honey, and more. It is one of the best spots in the city to grab weekend groceries straight from the people who grew them, and SNAP/EBT is accepted. Market first, then the Pride festival, and you have a perfect Saturday arc.

Sunday, September 13
Old Sturbridge Village (Textiles Weekend)
A half hour from Worcester and a full step back to the 1830s, Old Sturbridge Village celebrates Textiles Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, when costumed interpreters demonstrate spinning, weaving, and other textile crafts across the village. Pair it with hearth cooking along the working farm and a horse-drawn wagon ride, and you have a full family day wrapped in history. It is consistently one of the best family-friendly outings Central Massachusetts has to offer.
Worcester Public Market (Sunday hours)
If you are in the city on Sunday, make a point to visit the Worcester Public Market. Homegrown vendors and creators work a delightful mix of prepared food, fresh produce, artisan goods, and coffee, all under one roof on Front Street. It is an easy, low-pressure way to wander on a September Sunday, taste your way through locally made everything, and bring home a few groceries. The vendors genuinely make it one of the friendliest spots in Worcester.

Icon for Hire at The Palladium Upstairs
Alt-leaning rock act Icon for Hire wraps the weekend with a Sunday night show upstairs at the Palladium. Expect big choruses, confessional lyrics, and a room singing along to every word. If your dream weekend ends with live music, this is your around-7 p.m. plan.

In case that is not plenty to fill your weekend: the Sturbridge Farmers Market runs Sunday morning on the Town Common, an auto show at the DCU Center draws gearheads on Saturday, and apple picking is in full swing across the county right now, at orchards from Lunenburg to Sturbridge. Each farm sets its own picking hours, so check the venue pages before you go and bring an extra bag for the apples.
And a baseball note for the fans: the WooSox are on the road this weekend, but they are back at Polar Park to host the Bulls starting Tuesday, September 15. Between the festival downtown, the village fairs, and the orchards, Central Massachusetts always gives you a reason to get out there.
